HHD's Information Technology Director

Andrea Evers, Director of the Information Technology (IT) Department, has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology from Northeastern Junior College. This degree along with multiple IT certifications give her a great deal of expertise in her field. She started the IT Department at Haxtun Hospital in 2008 which has grown from a one person department to a staff of three full time employees. With the required implementation of Electronic Medical Records adding to the workflow of basic computer support, the department is extremely busy. There are now just under 100 computers in place throughout the facility where there were only approximately 15 when she started, those being mainly in Administrative areas and the business office.

Andrea also serves HHD as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Officer. A HIPAA Security Officer maintains the security, accessibility, and integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI). This involves physical security, security of technology resources, and training staff on the HIPAA regulations and best practices for keeping patient data secure.

Although Andrea was born and raised in the south, HHD is lucky that she married Mark, a Colorado native, and has lived in Northeastern CO since 1992. She has three adult children living in the area.

The IT Department is staffed from 8am - 5pm but occasionally is required to work evenings or weekends to deal with crisis situations and complete tasks after hours when it is more convenient for patients and staff.

Focus: The IT Department's primary focus is implementing and maintaining technology and resources that assist the staff with the highest level of patient care and overall business continuity. The IT Department's fundamental goal is to continually accommodate the needs of our customers - the patients and staff.
