The EVS Tech maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the facilities. The position performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain procedure and diagnostic areas, patient and resident rooms, offices, hallways and apartments.


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Cleans and services patient rooms, offices and hallways, as well as other inpatient, outpatient and ancillary areas.
  • Cleans and disinfects all areas of rooms and restrooms including fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, wall surfaces, top of window moldings and doorframes.
  • Wet mops floors in rooms, hallways, dining rooms, restrooms and other areas; shampoos carpet, rugs and furniture.
  • Dusts furniture, woodwork and equipment.
  • Polishes and cleans fixtures in rooms and restrooms.
  • Collects and disposes trash and waste material using specified bags and containers.
  • Performs terminal cleaning procedures in rooms in preparation of new patient or resident.
  • Performs isolation cleaning and dismissal cleaning as assigned.
  • Cleans office areas in accordance to policies.
  • Moves furniture such as beds, chairs tables, etc.
  1. Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
  • Reports hazardous conditions and/or areas in need of repair to Supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
  • Uses chemicals only for their intended use and follows department procedure for dispensing and/or mixing chemicals.
  • Utilizes proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintains knowledge, awareness, and diligence of infection control requirements.
  • Handles all cleaning materials in accordance with SDS and other safety precautions.
  1. Ensures proper supplies and equipment are maintained.
  • Keeps utility rooms clean and replenished with supplies.
  • Cleans work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary/directed.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Director of EVS
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Base Wage: $13.00/hour (additional salary commensurate with education and experience)
