Rachael Fryrear, MS, MA, CAS, ADS

Rachael is a respected therapist from Denver, Colorado. And has resided in Northeastern Colorado for the past sixteen years. She has begun seeing patients at all Haxtun Health’s Clinic locations full-time. Fryrear had previously practiced at Centennial Mental Health Center for ten years, and served as Centennial’s Judicial Services Director for the past three years providing oversight to the Jail Base Behavioral Service (JBBS) Program, Offender Services, and Court Liaison initiatives.

Fryrear has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling, Criminology, and is a Certified Addiction Counselor. She has extensive experience in home-based settings, school settings, inpatient residential settings for at-risk youth, outpatient settings for adolescents and adults, and various correctional settings.

Additionally, Fryrear is a registered trainer for the NADA protocol Acudetox Program and has successfully implemented and developed Acudetox procedures in several rural county jails. Acudetox is a 5-point auricular (ear) acupuncture modality to manage and decrease cravings for drugs and alcohol, withdrawal symptoms, relapse episodes, anxiety, pain, and insomnia. Fryrear believes that promoting alternative and safe methods of care for individuals having mental health or addiction problems is important, and she believes that many people experiencing these difficulties can benefit from this form of treatment.

In therapy sessions, she is skilled in using cognitive and dialectical behavioral skills to change unhealthy thinking patterns, manage emotional regulations and encourage distress tolerance skill building. She also uses solution-focused techniques to support clients’ strengths using positive psychology to promote solutions for healthy outcomes. Her focus is on guiding and supporting the individuals in her care in ways that are unique to them, and she strives to develop strong, positive, techniques and solutions as a means to promote healthy, happy living for the long term.
