A variety of discounted lab panels will be available for both men and women. Lab draws will be performed on-site by Haxtun Health clinical professionals, are chartered to Haxtun Health Laboratory at time of draw, allowing for quick turnaround times. Most results are available in the patient portal within 24 hours, with paper copies mailed the following week. Results may then be taken to the provider of the participant’s choice for review and follow-up. The Haxtun Health registration team will be available if a guest chooses to schedule an appointment to review the test results.

In addition to lab testing, the Health Fair will feature several free health screenings throughout the morning, including blood pressure checks, pulse oximetry readings, skin checks, and InBody body composition analysis, along with other wellness services. These screenings are designed to give participants a broader snapshot of their overall health in one convenient visit.

The InBody body composition scans, which is managed by the CSU Phillips County Extension Office,  are made possible through the generous support of the Haxtun Hospital Foundation. The Foundation has agreed to cover the full cost of the InBody scans for Health Fair visitors, helping remove financial barriers and expand access to preventive health insights. Haxtun Health extends sincere gratitude to the Foundation for its continued commitment to community wellness.

The fear people have around memory loss is palpable in our society. And the weight of being a caregiver can become pretty heavy for those seeing to the safety and well-being of a loved one who has dementia. I’ve been involved with the Alzheimer’s Association for several years, and the tools available to people now are far more plentiful than in the past.

The disease also has a stigma around it, and oftentimes denial is the first response people have to a diagnosis. There are medications now that can help some folks in the early stages that will slow the progression of the disease. There are new coping tools that can help with frustrations and oftentimes, anger, in both the one with declining memory and their caregiver.

I have facilitated a support group to help caregivers, and I’m interested in leading the education piece that the Alzheimer’s Association has to offer. I’m willing to have a conversation with anyone struggling to know how to go forward when memory loss affects the daily ebb and flow of life.
