About Dr. Charles Frankum
Dr. Frankum’s desire to practice rural medicine is deeply rooted, as both of his parents hail from rural areas in the South. His father was also a general surgeon in the 1950s.
Frankum grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee from 1991-1995. After receiving his medical degree, he attended Georgia Baptist in Atlanta Georgia for General Surgery, followed by a one-year Colon Rectal Fellowship with Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates.
In 2001, Frankum moved to Denver, where he practiced medicine at Presbyterian St. Luke’s and St. Joseph’s Hospital. In 2002, he began his rural surgical medicine practice in Springfield, Colorado. He has solely been practicing rural medicine since 2004 and serves the Colorado communities of Hugo, Yuma, Haxtun, Mead and Springfield, along with the Kansas communities of St. Francis, Tribune, Leoti and Hugoton.
