Mental Health Awareness Month: Supporting Our Community at Every Stage of Life
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Haxtun Health, we believe mental and emotional well‑being is essential at every age—from early childhood through adulthood and beyond. This month, we are proud to offer community events designed to create space for calm, connection, and support for individuals and families across our region.
Creating Space to Slow Down and Reset
Life moves fast, and stress can affect anyone. As part of our commitment to whole‑person care, Haxtun Health is offering a free, calming group wellness session open to the entire community.
This quiet experience focuses on relaxation, stress relief, and emotional well‑being in a peaceful, supportive environment. There is no talking required—just a safe space to sit, rest, and allow your body and mind a moment to reset.

Supporting Mental Health from an Early Age
Mental health awareness starts early—and conversations about emotions, body awareness, and self‑regulation can make a lifelong difference. That’s why Haxtun Health is also hosting Kids’ Story Hour for Mental Health Week, featuring the book Listening to My Body by Gabi Garcia.
This engaging and interactive story helps children learn to:
- Recognize and name their feelings
- Understand how emotions show up in their bodies
- Practice simple, age‑appropriate calming strategies
Kids’ Story Hour
The story will be read by Rachael Fryrear, who is passionate about helping children and families build healthy emotional skills from the very beginning.
Kids’ Story Hour for Mental Health Week
- When: Monday, May 11, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
- Where: Haxtun Community Center
- Who: Children ages 4–12 (with a parent or guardian)
- Cost: Free to attend
